Harford County Criminal Lawyer
If you or a loved one is facing criminal charges in Harford County, do not walk into the courtroom without an experienced and skilled lawyer by your side. This is one of the harshest jurisdictions in all of Maryland regardless of what the charges are. The State’s Attorney and many judges take even minor cases such as possession of marijuana extremely seriously. If you have a criminal charge in Harford County the justice system will treat you like a criminal. Even if you are a first time offender, the system here will treat you like you have been in the system for years. Standard first time offender programs and community service alternatives to sentencing are not always available here, and many first time offenders end up with convictions. It is extremely unfortunate that there is such a disparity in how the justice system works from place to place, but that is simply the reality of our state. This does not mean that you should ever lie down and accept any punishment. It means quite the opposite. You have to fight harder for justice here, and you need a lawyer that is willing to go the extra mile.
Harford County is pretty much right in the middle in terms of population, with just over a quarter million residents. The main cities include Bel Air, Aberdeen, and Havre De Grace. These three cities are incorporated and have their own police departments, but the county police is the largest law enforcement agency, and handles cases in unincorporated areas such as Edgewood and Abingdon. The State Police also make a relatively large amount of arrests for crimes and citations committed on interstate 95. If you are arrested or cited for a crime by one of the five major police departments, your case will be sent to the district court or the circuit court in Bel Air. There is not a particularly high rate of violent crime here, as most arrests are made for drug possession or DUI. Drunk driving arrests are fairly common in all areas of the county, as are drug crimes. We have represented clients charged with a variety of CDS offenses, some of which live or work at the Aberdeen proving ground. We have also represented out of state clients that are cited or arrested while traveling through the state on I 95 and have heard of numerous situations where state police officers have performed illegal automobile searches.

"I am writing this letter to thank you for doing such a great job in my case. If it were not for what you did I would still be in jail right now. My family and I are very grateful I have a second chance at life now, and if it wouldn't be like this if you were not so good at what you do. Thank you again Benjamin!" T.S.

"Thank you for all the time and effort that you put into defending my case. You were willing to fight for me when nobody else would believe my story, and you did not back down from the prosecutor. Another lawyer would have urged me to plead guilty, but you were willing to fight for me, and in the end justice was served. I appreciate everything you did and wish you all the best." Fred D.
